Our Story and Mission
Discover the heartfelt inspiration behind Kasey's Gift and our commitment to making a difference in Central Ohio. We honor a legacy of generosity by supporting children in need, especially during the holidays.
The Inspiration Behind Kasey's Gift
At just 16 years old, Kasey Nicole Burleson died as a result of an automobile accident in November, 2005. She was a junior at Worthington Kilbourne High School, where she was known for her kindness, strong friendships, and positive spirit. Kasey played on the softball team and worked at the Worthington Recreation Center. Kasey planned to attend college for social work, as she really liked the idea of helping others. Even though her life ended so suddenly, she continued to help others in unexpected ways.
While she was on life support, her family discovered that she had made the selfless choice to become an organ donor. Through the donation process, Kasey saved the lives of four people and significantly improved the lives of many more.
In 2008, Kasey's friends and family created Kasey's Gift to honor her memory and support those in need, just like Kasey would have done. Each year we collect toys to brighten the holidays for children and families. What began as a way to cope with loss has grown into a lasting tribute that reflects Kasey's heart and ensures her legacy of helping others lives on.

Continuing Kasey's Legacy of Giving
Kasey was always a giving person; as a child, she would collect toys to donate for the fire station. In her memory, her family and friends have been collecting new inexpensive toys and clothes for children in need in Central Ohio since 2008. The most important message we want people to take away is that Kasey's spirit of generosity lives on, bringing joy and comfort to those who need it most.

Our Goals: Bringing Joy to Central Ohio
Kasey's Gift aims to achieve specific goals for the community and the people we help. Our primary objective is giving back to the community through providing toys and clothes to children during the holidays. We believe every child deserves to experience the magic and warmth of the holiday season, and we work tirelessly to make that a reality for families in Central Ohio.
